Caterpillar C9
Caterpillar presents its new 425 horsepower C9 engine with a 4 percent increase in fuel economy from 2004 engines. The company says its focus has been on meeting EPA emissions without compromising efficiency or power. The C9 is an in-line 6-cylinder, 9.3-liter engine with 1,350 foot pounds of torque at 1,400 RPMs.

Notable characteristics of the C9 include a Cat compression brake with braking up to 375 horsepower and a common rail fuel system with greater injection flexibility for compliance with tougher emissions regulations. Other highlights feature a variable nozzle turbocharger for optimal airflow and ADEM A4 enhanced electronics with three times the processing speed of ADEM 2000 technology.
